On May 5th, the 16th "Xuanzang Road" Gobi Challenge concluded successfully in Guazhou, Gansu. A total of 45 participating schools from across the country, 95 teams, and 4,922 participants set off from the ruins of Suoyang City - the Ashoka Temple, passing through Suoyang City, the Mother and Son Stele, Changle Post, Shuangdunzi, Kunlun Barrier, and Huanggu Post, trekking across 121 kilometers of desert to reach the finish line - Gobi Spring. In this arduous and lonely journey through the desert, the participants shed their superficiality, faced themselves directly, and after enduring the harsh tests of complex and treacherous terrain as well as strong winds and sun exposure, ultimately achieved a transcendence of self.
In this Gobi Challenge, the sokan & Matsuren team assembled 15 elite warriors for the expedition. Unlike the previous Gobi 15, this time the sokan & Matsuren team participated as an independent brand team. During the four-day, three-night extreme challenge, they upheld the spirit of "sokan Prosperity, Sharp Achievement" and persevered, ultimately winning the Shackleton Award. It is understood that the Shackleton Award represents the highest team spirit, awarded to teams that complete the race according to the rules. The victory of the sokan team made the concept of "continuous transcendence" shine even brighter after being tested by the yellow sands.
On May 7th, the Gobi 15 representative team led by Chairman Ling Yunjian (including R&D Center Director Andrew, Supply Chain Center Director Jessica, Management Center Director Linda, Head of Coating R&D Department Adan, and sokan Finance Department Head Jim) prepared flowers and banners at Changsha Huanghua International Airport to welcome the victorious sokan & Matsuren Gobi 16 team!
At 22:35, when the warriors dressed in red battle robes appeared among the bustling crowd, the welcoming team couldn't help but rush forward to present flowers, offering hugs and applause! After a journey of 4 days and 3 nights, competing and trekking 121 kilometers, the Gobi 16 warriors, who continuously transcended, permanently etched sokan's fighting spirit, style, and essence into the Gobi's hot soil!
The members of this team trained for less than two months, from March 15 to May 2. During this time, there were moments of excitement, sweat, hesitation, and they grew braver through self-challenges. As the team members said, one person can walk fast, but a group can go further. With "Brook, who serves as the team's compass", "patient and professional leader Woif", "actively assisting Harvey and Richard", and team members who showed unity and outstanding performance during the event, despite having only one-third of last year's number, these 15 individuals coalesced into an unstoppable sharp blade on the Gobi, withstanding the pressure of intense preparation, ultimately proving themselves through their best actions. Burning the small self to achieve the greater self, setting off together, and reaching together is the loyalty to team honor!
Never forget the original intention, and forge ahead. With the upcoming sokan "Gobi 1" - the walking challenge, it is believed that they will face challenges fearlessly, bravely moving forward, and the spirit of continuous transcendence will be passed on, extending into a further future.
