Hardcore! 96 hours, helping farmers with love, supporting Wuhan, shouldering great love and responsibility!
At the beginning of 2020, the new coronavirus epidemic touched the hearts of people across the country. In the face of this sudden and severe epidemic, Matsui New Materials was concerned about the situation and actively took on corporate social responsibility, contributing its strength to the fight against the epidemic.
On February 4, as the epidemic was spreading, ensuring the supply of medical materials for epidemic prevention was very important. In response, Matsui arranged various resources to procure the necessary materials for epidemic prevention, donating 30,000 medical surgical masks to Xiangya Hospital of Central South University and 10,000 medical surgical masks to the management committee of Ningxiang Economic Development Zone. On February 11, Matsui made a targeted donation of 300,000 yuan to Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital through the Hubei Charity Federation and donated 200,000 yuan through the Ningxiang Red Cross.to support the prevention and control of the new coronavirus pneumonia epidemic.
In addition to donations and medical supplies, on February 26, a 96-hour long-distance support mission was urgently launched...
As the saying goes, "The green mountains are one with the clouds and rain, the bright moon has never been two hometowns." On the morning of February 26, Matsui learned that Wuhan, as the epicenter of the epidemic, was facing a shortage of living supplies and urgently needed assistance from all sides. At the same time, in Yongzhou Jianghua Yao Autonomous County in southern Hunan, due to the impact of the epidemic, vegetables and fruits were severely unsold, causing great distress to farmers. What could we do? The company's chairman, Mr. Ling, who had been closely monitoring the epidemic, discussed with Linda from the HR and Administration Department and immediately decided: to do something practical, to help farmers, and to support Wuhan. Without hesitation, the company quickly issued a "Love for Farmers · Support Wuhan - Fundraising Initiative" to all employees. After the initiative was issued, Matsui employees actively responded, extending their helping hands, and within less than a day, raised 115,955.88 yuan. On this basis, Chairman Ling decided to add another 65,917.82 yuan, totaling 181,873.7 yuan to purchase love fruits and vegetables to support Wuhan.
Recommended by the media, Mr. Tang from the company's supply chain center quickly contacted the Agricultural and Rural Bureau of Jianghua Yao Autonomous County to preliminarily confirm the purchase of love materials from fruit farmer Lin Jiasheng and vegetable farmer Jiang Heping. Contacting for the purchase of vegetables and fruits was just the simple beginning; how to arrange transportation? How to deliver to Hubei? Where to apply for a pass? Where to deliver in Hubei? These were all pressing questions. Meanwhile, the efficient Mr. Tang urgently contacted the staff of the Pioneer Community in Wuhan East Lake Scenic Area and a logistics company in Yongzhou. With coordination from all parties, the vehicle pass to the epidemic area was obtained in advance. After completing all the preliminary preparations, on the morning of February 28, before six o'clock, under Mr. Tang's leadership, company volunteers Zang Yiwu, Yang Guocheng, and others quickly set off for Yongzhou Jianghua with Matsui's love funds. After nearly six hours of driving, at noon, the volunteers arrived at the Agricultural and Rural Bureau of Jianghua Yao Autonomous County. Without much time to stay, everyone quickly finished their boxed lunch and, under the guidance of Director Yang from the Agricultural and Rural Bureau, headed to the homes of fruit farmer Lin Jiasheng and vegetable farmer Jiang Heping.
Yongzhou Jianghua Yao Autonomous County is located at the source of the Xiang River, with good air quality, clean water, and high soil organic matter, making it suitable for growing fruits and vegetables. However, due to geographical location and traditional agriculture, the economy is relatively underdeveloped. In recent years, the deepening of poverty alleviation work has stimulated the endogenous motivation for industrial poverty alleviation, and many farmers have begun to grow fruits and vegetables. This year, due to the impact of the epidemic, fruit and vegetable products have been severely unsold, causing heavy losses for farmers. Lin Jiasheng and Jiang Heping are among the "victims". On the afternoon of February 28, the company's volunteers and Director Yang visited the orchard of fruit farmer Lin Jiasheng and the vegetable field of Jiang Heping, going into the fields for on-site inspection and selection. The oranges on Lin Jiasheng's fruit trees were fresh and orange-yellow, sweet and juicy; the oilseed vegetables in Jiang Heping's field were lush and fragrant. They immediately decided to purchase 18 tons of oranges from Lin Jiasheng and 27 tons of oilseed vegetables and cabbage from Jiang Heping.
To ensure the freshness of the fruits and vegetables, on the morning of February 29, the vegetable and fruit farmers arrived early to pick. Everyone was very touched when they learned that the vegetables and fruits were love materials sent to Wuhan, and they kept asking the volunteers which company sent them. After 9 hours of picking, icing, and packing, 27 tons of vegetables and 18 tons of oranges were ready.
At 8 PM that day, after weighing, the convoy gathered at the highway entrance, ready to set off. Before departure, Mr. Tang handed the prepared masks, alcohol, disposable gloves, and other protective materials to the drivers, repeatedly reminding them: "Because these are fresh goods, you must ensure they are delivered to Wuhan safely and as quickly as possible. Also, since you are going to an epidemic area, be sure to pay attention to your own safety protection." With Matsui's instructions and heartfelt love, the convoy officially set off! Heading to Wuhan!
At 10 AM on March 1, three large trucks loaded with vegetables and oranges slowly drove out from the checkpoint of the Pioneer Community in Wuhan. After more than ten hours of driving, this batch of fresh fruits and vegetables crossed nearly a thousand kilometers to reach the Pioneer Community in Wuhan, where volunteers were already waiting at the agreed location. After the handover, to avoid crowding, the volunteers from the Pioneer Community in Wuhan transported the fruits and vegetables in batches to the entrance of the buildings in the communities they managed, making it convenient for residents to pick them up. Thus, a "thousand-mile support" operation came to a successful conclusion...
Editor's Note
From 10 AM on February 26 to 10 AM on March 1, a total of 96 hours, 527 kilometers of love for farmers, and 1017 kilometers of support for Wuhan. Baskets of oranges and baskets of oilseed vegetables were filled with the heartfelt love of Matsui people. For Matsui, these 96 hours represented a significant act of love and a time battle that embodies the spirit of gratitude. The company demonstrated its responsibility and commitment through practical actions, while also showcasing the great love of Matsui people.
As a participant, I was deeply moved. During this special period, raising funds and purchasing love materials in remote areas to send directly to Wuhan was not a simple task. However, with the joint efforts of all Matsui people, this task was successfully completed in just 96 hours. In the donation phase, within 24 hours, Matsui people extended their helping hands, quickly raising the funds. In the coordination phase, Mr. Tang from the supply chain handled the arrangements smoothly in just a few hours; in the volunteer registration phase, I received many inquiries from Matsui partners, including He Jiaorui, Hu Jun, and Yang Qingbiao, who wanted to sign up to help farmers in Jianghua; and Zhang Rongxun and Song Xiafei, who wanted to sign up to deliver materials to Wuhan... etc. Although they ultimately could not go for various reasons, the spirit of great love shown by the partners was truly touching.
What is behind this? I believe it is the gratitude culture of Matsui, which is like spring rain, and it is under the influence of this culture that Matsui can gain the trust of customers, cultivate the great love of employees, and demonstrate the responsibility of the enterprise!
